The Sarver Heart Center is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease via the principles of research (discovering knowledge), education (sharing knowledge) and patient care (applying knowledge).

For decades, 50 percent of Americans died of cardiovascular disease. We have made progress, as that figure has decreased to 40 percent and death from the disease now occurs at an older age. Nevertheless, we cannot take much solace, as cardiovascular disease is still by far the No. 1 killer of Americans. The latest data indicates that 40 percent of Americans die of cardiovascular diseases, compared with 23 percent from cancer and 37 percent from all other causes combined — a statistic that holds true for women as well as men.
