The wall of recognition is designed to acknowledge and pay tribute to donors to the University of Arizona or the University of Arizona Foundation for the benefit of the UA Sarver Heart Center. Cumulative gifts of cash, stocks or property worth $2,000 or greater; formally pledged gifts (formal signed pledge agreements for two to five years); and irrevocable planned gifts (including charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder annuity trust or unitrusts) will be acknowledged. All contributions fitting this description will be listed on the wall if the donor, family or organization expresses this desire in writing. Unfortunately, informal verbal pledges and irrevocable planned gifts are not formally acknowledged in this manner.

The system designed for this purpose is arrayed in seven levels according to the following ranges:

Level 1: Gifts of $1,000,000 and higher
Level 2: Gifts of $250,000 to $999,999
Level 3: Gifts of $100,000 to $249,999
Level 4: Gifts of $50,000 to $99,999
Level 5: Gifts of $25,000 to $49,999
Level 6: Gifts of $10,000 to $24,999
Level 7: Gifts of $2,000 to $9,999

Three areas on the expansive north wall in the lobby of the Sarver Heart Center building display this recognition system. Level 1 will begin at the top of area A and levels will proceed to areas B through C as design and space dictate.

The inset photo shows two examples of the engraved aluminum plaques that are attached to the metal screens revealing the maple wall behind them. The plates will vary in size according to the level.

Design and space considerations dictate that names must be kept as brief and concise as possible. Donors may choose to use first names, such as Jim & Sandy Fox; titles, such as Mr. James & Dr. Sandy B. Fox; or a family designation, such as The Fox Family. In the case of memorial or honorary gifts either the name of the person to whom tribute was paid may be noted, such as In Honor of Sandy Fox, MD, or In Memory of Sandy B. Fox, or the name of the donor party as previously noted.

All donor names must be confirmed in writing by mail, fax or e-mail. The list will be submitted periodically to the engravers. Upon receipt of written confirmation names will be sent to the engravers approximately every two months.
