The Sarver Heart Center and the UArizona Cooperative Extension Diabetes Prevention Program are teaming up this Heart Month to discuss strategies for promoting health. Join us for a co-presentation from Sarver Heart Center fellow, Nathaniel Kim, MD, and Cooperative Extension Diabetes Prevention Program Director, Vanessa da Silva, PhD, RD, on heart health and diabetes prevention.

Presenter details:

Nathaniel J. Kim, MD
Cardiology Fellow, Sarver Heart Center
Earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Northwestern University in 2012 and his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine (Indianapolis) in 2017. In between, he completed an Abrams Ophthalmology Research Fellowship at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Eye Institute at the IU School of Medicine, Indianapolis (2013-14). Afterward, he completed his internal medicine residency at the Northeast Georga Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga.

Vanessa da Silva, PhD, RD
Director, Diabetes Prevention Program
A registered dietitian, she earned a bachelor's degree in agricultural and biological engineering as well as a doctorate in nutritional sciences from the University of Florida. Later, she did postdoctoral research on obesity and folate metabolism at the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga.
