Fellowship Updates

The University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center is excited to welcome six physicians to train in the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program, beginning in July 2023.

  • Josh Epstein, MD, is completing his internal medicine residency at the University of Utah
  • Dennis Fong, MD, is staying at the University of Arizona after completing his internal medicine residency with the University of Arizona College of Medicine- Tucson
  • Bryant Hammershaimb, MD, is currently a resident at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles
  • Nathan Kim, MD, is completing an internal medicine residency at Northeast Georgia Medical Center
  • Christy Lougheed, MD, is an internal medicine resident at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson. She was rewarded the Hall award in summer 2022
  • Abdulbaril Olagunju, MD, is heading southeast on Interstate 10 after completing his internal medicine residency at Creighton University in Phoenix

The Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program, launched in 1971 and certified in 1988, is a three-year training program affiliated with the University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center, a center of excellence at the UArizona College of Medicine – Tucson, with more than 165 members who are cardiologists, cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons, neurologists, research scientists and numerous other medical specialists.
