Tucson Myofilament Meeting, May 23-26

The Tucson Myofilament Meeting is an international 3.5-day Sarver Heart Center conference that brings together approximately 250 scientists focused on the structure and function of the myofilaments that comprise the contractile machinery of muscle. Spanning topics from molecular biophysics to heart and skeletal muscle disease mechanisms and drug development, the meeting is known for its highly interactive, collaborative, and informal atmosphere, with strong engagement of early career investigators.

Traditionally held biennially at the University of Wisconsin, the meeting will continue at the University of Arizona beginning in May 2026, offering a distinctive Tucson setting that fosters scientific exchange and community building.

CUP Clinics Open House

Thursday, October 18, 2018 - 5:00pm
Event Location:

UA Health Sciences Plaza

The College of Medicine – Tucson will celebrate the Commitment to Underserved People (CUP) program's 40th anniversary on Thursday, Oct. 18. From its modest beginnings 40 years ago, CUP has since evolved into a substantial program involving more than 90 percent of all medical students. Through the program, medical students help provide free medical care to more than 1,000 patients in the Tucson community each year. Participation in CUP helps medical students practice their clinical skills and get involved with the local community. They also learn about impact of socioeconomic status on access to health care by working regularly with the uninsured, homeless, refugees, inmates and other marginalized populations.

Everyone is invited to help celebrate this important milestone. During the Open House, medical students will be showcasing each of their CUP programs, as well as providing tours of their new clinic space inside of College of Medicine – Tucson located at 1501 N. Campbell Ave. Interested attendees are asked to please RSVP for the event at: bit.ly/CUP2018

NOTE: CUP relies heavily on the volunteer services of local health care providers. If you are interested in volunteering with CUP, contact Hildi Williams at hildi@medadmin.arizona.edu. If you would like to support CUP monetarily, visit: bit.ly/SupportCUP
