Barbara Natterson-Horowitz, MD, PhD, is a cardiologist and evolutionary biologist who serves as a clinical professor of medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles and holds faculty appointments at Harvard Medical School and Harvard University’s Department of Human Evolutionary Biology. Her work focuses on applying principles from evolutionary biology and comparative medicine to better understand human disease. Dr. Natterson-Horowitz co-directs the Evolutionary Medicine Program at UCLA and has contributed to advancing the field of evolutionary medicine through research, teaching, and scholarly writing.
