Nader Makki, MD

Clinical Assistant Professor

Nader Makki, MD, is an Clinical Assistant Professor in the UA College of Medicine-Tucson, Division of Cardiology and at Banner – University Medical Center Tucson.

Dr. Makki received his BS in Biology from the American University of Beirut in 2007. After earning his MD from the American University of Beirut Medical School in 2011, Dr. Makki completed his internal medicine residency at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA, in 2014. He completed a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine in 2017 and a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Ohio State Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, OH in 2018.

He made the Dean’s Honor List from 2004 – 2010 at the American University of Beirut and American University of Beirut Medical School, received the Internal Medicine Resident Research Award during his residency at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in 2014, and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

Dr. Makki is board certified in Nuclear Cardiology and Vascular Imaging.

 

Research Interests: 

His clinical interests include interventional cardiology specifically pertaining to complex coronary artery disease, structural heart disease and above the knee peripheral artery disease.  

His research interests include structural heart disease outcomes evaluation in special populations such as chronic kidney disease and evaluating pacemaker dependency post TAVR. In addition, he is interested in developing quality control measures to improve anticoagulation and hemodynamic monitoring in the cardiac catheterization lab.

He has authored and co-authored over 30 multiple original research publications.
