Malay Chaklader, PhD, MBA

Malay Chaklader, PhD, MBA, is an instructor in the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson and a member of the Sadek Lab at the Sarver Heart Center.

Dr. Chaklader is a molecular cell biologist whose research spans stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cells, cardiovascular biology, metabolism, organoid models and gene editing. His work has included studies of cardiac repair, endothelial function, atherosclerosis, skeletal progenitor cells, kidney development and hematopoietic stem cell biology.

Before joining the University of Arizona, Dr. Chaklader held research and faculty roles at UT Southwestern Medical Center, Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, KU Leuven and the Calcutta School of Tropical Medicine. He earned his doctorate in biotechnology from the University of Calcutta, where his work focused on stem cell biology and toxicology. He also holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biotechnology from the University of Burdwan and an MBA in clinical research management.
