2026 Cardiovascular Research Symposium at El Conquistador

ABOUT THE CVRS:

This event will bring together leading cardiologists, basic science and clinical researchers from renowned institutions worldwide to discuss the latest advancements and breakthroughs in cardiology.

This collaborative event brings together the University of Arizona, Stanford University, and the CNIC Madrid.

Our program includes a variety of sessions that will cover a broad range of topics, including but not limited to:

  • Heart regeneration
  • Heart failure
  • Stem cells
  • Cardiac myocyte research
  • Tissue engineering
  • Clinical cardiovascular research

The symposium will also include ample networking opportunities, including poster sessions, refreshment breaks, and a conference dinner.


ACTIVITIES:

  • Hiking with Henk: On Monday morning, join us for a group hike to Catalina State Park led by conference speaker and UArizona Professor of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Henk Granzier, PhD. Enjoy scenic views, meet your exercise goals, and connect with conference speakers and attendees. Select the ticket add-on to participate.
  • Conference Dinner: On Monday evening, join us for a conference-wide dinner at El Conquistador, bringing together researchers, clinicians and trainees of all levels for a night of connection. Just select the Conference Dinner add-on during registration.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS:

We invite submissions on a wide variety of topics within the field of cardiology research, including but not limited to:

  • Heart regeneration
  • Heart failure
  • Stem cells
  • Cardiac myocyte research
  • Tissue engineering
  • Clinical cardiovascular research

Submission Guidelines:

  • Abstracts should be no more than 250 words. Clearly state the background, methods, results, and conclusion of the research. Include the title, authors, affiliations, and contact information.
  • All submissions will undergo a rigorous review process.
  • All abstracts must be submitted via email to SHC.CVRS@arizona.edu no later than Friday, December 19th. Please use the following template for the subject line: "Abstract Submission: Last Name, First Name". Include proof of abstract fee payment with your submission. Participants are required to pay both the submission fee and the registration fee; however, authors who pay the abstract submission fee will receive a 50% discount on registration.
  • Authors will be notified of acceptance to the symposium by Friday, January 16th.

Abstract Competition:

  • The Cardiovascular Research Symposium invites abstract submissions for both basic science and clinical research categories.
  • One author will be selected as finalists in each category: basic science junior faculty; clinical science junior faculty; postdoctoral fellow; graduate student.
  • Lightning Round Presentations
    • The top 4 abstracts (1 in each category) will be selected for 5-minute lightning round presentations.
    • These finalists will receive certificates of recognition.
    • Poster presenters will not be considered for the lightning round.

Poster Competition:

  • Abstract authors may also be considered for poster presentations.
  • Four finalists (2 basic, 2 clinical) will be selected for the poster competition.
  • All poster finalists will receive certificates, and the winner will receive a travel award.
  • Selected authors will present their research at our poster session.
