Genetics and Genomics Grand Rounds

Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018
4 - 5 p.m.
Medical Research Building, Room 102

SPEAKER: Leslie Lange, PhD | Professor, Medicine; Member, Center for Personalized Medicine — University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus
TOPIC: "Large Scale Genetics and –Omics Projects for Cardiovascular Disease and Diabetes Phenotypes"

About the Presenter:
Dr. Leslie Lange is a professor of medicine at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus, and a member of the Colorado Center for Personalized Medicine (CCPM). She is involved in a number of genetic consortia focused on cardiovascular disease, diabetes and lung disease, including the Trans-omics for Precision Medicine (TOPMed) program, the Cohorts for Heart and Aging Research in Genomic Epidemiology (CHARGE) consortia, the FNIH-funded Accelerating Medicines Partnership (AMP) project T2D-GENES Knowledge Portal, and the Consortium on Asthma among African-ancestry Populations in the Americas (CAAPA). Dr. Lange is actively involved in study design, statistical analysis and interpretation of results in these studies, and has led efforts to harmonize phenotypes across several consortia. She also is involved in the CCPM Biobank, which is genotyping ~30,000 health-care participants. Dr. Lange has a particular interest in studying genetics and other -omics in under-represented and minority populations, and she is a co-investigator for the Jackson Heart Study, the Reasons for Geographic and Racial Differences in Stroke (REGARDS) studies, and the Multi-ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis (MESA).
