Professor of medicine at the UA Sarver Heart Center and director, the Cardiac Electrophysiology Program at Banner – University Medical Center Tucson, is board certified in cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology.
Atrial fibrillation is a heart rhythm disorder that affects between 2 to 3 million people and accounts for about one-fifth of all strokes in the United States. By 2050, the number of people affected by atrial fibrillation will increase to an estimated 12 million. The condition leads to a fast and irregular heart rate.
