About the speaker:
Asaithamby (Thambi) Aroumougame, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where he has been a faculty member since 2004. With over 20 years of research experience, Dr. Aroumougame is a leading expert in radiation biology, focusing on DNA repair pathways and DNA damage response (DDR) signaling. His research has significantly advanced the understanding of how radiation affects cardiomyocyte function and the regulation of innate immune signaling by DDR factors.
Throughout his career, Dr. Aroumougame has authored 47 research papers, 9 review articles, and 2 book chapters, contributing valuable insights to the fields of radiation countermeasure drug development, premature aging, and the effects of space travel on health. His work also includes expertise in advanced techniques such as fluorescence and confocal microscopy, molecular cloning, and immunohistochemistry.
