Dr. Francisco Arabia, board certified in surgery and thoracic surgery, is a Physician Executive with the Advanced Heart Program of Banner University Medical Group in Phoenix, AZ, and Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson.
Dr. Arabia completed his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency at Tulane University Affiliate Hospitals in New Orleans, LA and his cardiothoracic residency at the University of Arizona.
Dr. Arabia has extensive physician leadership experience, most recently as Associate Director, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA; Associate Director, Comprehensive Transplant Director, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center; Chair, Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Department of Surgery, Mayo Clinic, Phoenix, AZ and Surgical Director, Heart Transplant Program, Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Department of Surgery, Mayo Clinic, Scottsdale, AZ.
His clinical and research interests include the Total Artificial Heart, HeartWare Left Ventricular Assist Device and biomedical engineering. He has authored or co-authored over 100 research publications.
