UA Sarver Heart Center and Banner – University Medical Center Welcome Cardiologist Dr. Joel B. Holland

The University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center welcomed nationally noted cardiologist Joel B. Holland, MD, to its faculty earlier this month. Dr. Holland, an associate professor in the UA College of Medicine – Tucson, Division of Cardiology, sees patients at Banner –University Medical Center Tucson and the new Banner – University Medicine North outpatient complex at Campbell Avenue and Allen Road in Tucson.  

Board certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine, Dr. Holland practiced cardiovascular medicine for 18 years with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. His clinical interests include echocardiography, valvular heart disease and adult congenital heart disease. He has expertise and experience using different forms of echocardiography to evaluate patients for mitral valve repair and to optimize surgical outcomes. He has worked extensively with structural interventional cardiologists to apply echocardiography to optimize strategies and outcomes with transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).

Dr. Holland completed his medical residency and cardiology fellowship at University of Chicago Hospitals. He obtained his bachelor’s and medical degrees from the University of Rochester in New York.
